Picture of Minnesota Timberwolves & Golden State Warriors

The NBA Schedule is heating up on Wednesday Night with a battle out West at the Oracle Arena as the Golden State Warriors welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves to town. After starting the season 1-2, the Warriors have been red hot winning seven of their last eight games. Meanwhile over on the over side the Timberwolves are riding a five game winning streak while pushing their season record to 7-3.

As you look at this matchup each team has some big tasks ahead of them as they look to slow down some big-time weapons. For the Timberwolves, the big question we are all asking is whether or not they have enough fire power to slow down the Warriors big three. Meanwhile on other side the Warriors will have their hands full with trying to find a way to slow down Karl-Anthony Towns.

Here are the keys to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors matchup on Wednesday November 8th, 2017.

Minnesota Timberwolves – Be Aggressive & Attack the Rim

When you look at the Warriors three losses this season the opposing team attacked the rim while taking advantage of going to the free throw line. This showed up as the Detroit Pistons connected on 17 free throws versus the Warriors connecting on nine attempts. The same results showed up against the Memphis Grizzlies as they made just 23 free throws compared to the 29 that Grizzlies hit. The Timberwolves will need to ask Towns, Jimmy Butler and Andrew Wiggins to take the ball directly at the Warriors defense.

Golden State Warriors –  Win the War on the Boards

Despite having some of the games top scoring stars, the Warriors will need to find a way to win the battle on the glass. Much of that success will start with Draymond Green who is averaging just under nine rebounds a game. Meanwhile the team will need to find a way to slow down Towns who is averaging nearly 11 rebounds a game while posting six double doubles to start the 2017-18 NBA schedule. If the Warriors can win the rebounding battle, they could have an opportunity to pick up a key win early on.

 Minnesota Timberwolves Betting Trends

The Timberwolves enter their Wednesday Night showdown with the Warriors just 5-4 against the spread. Luckily for sports handicappers and fans, the team has been red hot of late covering the spread in four of their last five contests while also covering the spread in their last four meetings against teams in the Western Conference. Other key trends for the Timberwolves includes the team going 9-4 on Wednesday Night but are just 1-3-1 against teams in the Pacific Conference.

Golden State Warriors Betting Trends

After starting the season losing two of their first three games, the Warriors have rebounded winning four straight and six of their last seven overall games. That success has recently shown up in their success against the spread as they have covered the spread in each of their last four games while also going 4-0 against teams in the Western Conference. One disadvantage that could keep sports handicappers away is the fact the Warriors are just 1-5 against the spread at home.

Head to Head Matchup

As these two teams get set for a potential playoff matchup on Wednesday, the Timberwolves have had some solid success against the spread against the Warriors. Dating back to the 2015-16 NBA Schedule, the Timberwolves are 5-0-1 against the spread against this very good Warriors team. That success also stems back farther than that as they have covered the spread in four of their last five meetings at the Oracle Arena.
