NBA Totals and end-game fouling

For people who have been making college basketball picks over the years, one thing that you learn to deal with is end-game fouling. You know that it can have a substantial impact on the total of the game and it can certainly help a team cover the spread at the end of the day. But what about with the NBA? What happens when NBA teams get down to the end of the game. As you make your NBA picks, this is information that you need above all else.

The issue in the NBA is that teams are inconsistent in how they handle end-game fouling. Some teams will foul as long as they down by ten or less, as in college. Other teams will let the game play out if there is an eight point margin. You just never know with these teams. A lot of the time, it will have to do with how road weary a team is. This is ultimately the great unknown with NBA picks, so have to be careful betting totals when the line is in the eight to ten point range. You don’t want to get burned because a team chose to or not to foul.
